Pursuit of Proverbs 31 by Amy Bayliss is a book that dispels the myths surrounding the Proverbs 31 woman and gives a glimpse into the truth behind these verses of scripture.

It takes us from a works based mentality to one that frees us to accept that Christ is the only one who could ever fulfill scripture. Yet, there is practical wisdom and knowledge to be gained from those verses.

The book dives deep into the character traits represented and how we can accomplish them while keeping Christ as the focus. It is a short read but it is packed full of wisdom and practical application.

This book was timely for me as I finished reading it shortly before my aunt passed away.  At her funeral, everyone referred to her as a true Proverbs 31 woman.  A mother of three, she was a retired first grade teacher, whose hands were never idol.  She was an excellent cook; crocheted, smocked, canned…She volunteered at the pioneer museum near her home and taught the visitor to bake biscuits from scratch on a wood burning stove.  She was a true Proverbs 31 woman, but those like her are few and far between.

In her book, Amy Bayliss shows us that the woman in Proverbs 31 was an idealized woman in a prayer of a mother for her son.  As a mother of boys myself, I can easily see this (since it was explained to me) as I would want such an ideal wife for my boys.  Amy then takes us through a bible study that shows what God really expects from us as Christian women.

The book was very eye-opening for me.  I felt truly blessed to be able to review this book and will definitely be using it more in the future.
